Google amazed the developers during the Google I/O 2016 by introducing Google Home. A Bluetooth speaker which is like Amazon’s Echo, But promises to offer more features as compared to Echo.
Home is a cute small cylinder with angled top. Google Home is said to have a modular case that you can customise with different base shells to match you décor. It also has some LED lights that will dance around to let you know that it is working.
Google Home is not portable, but there is a benefit of always being plugged in. That is Google will be able to make more powerful speakers. Google Home will fill your room, and it promises to have strong bass and clear highs. That is important because one of the main things Google is focusing on here is listening to music.
Google Home is designed with keeping many rooms and speakers in mind from the beginning. The basic Cast standard allows you to talk to any speaker and tell it to play music on other speakers too. Just like you can do it with Google Cast Audio. It is said that it will work with Google Play Music and other services like Spotify.
Google Home’s compatibility with Cast is another smart feature. It will connect to the Chromecast you have plugged into your TV. And it will play YouTube clips or anything else. Unfortunately, Home will not support more than one Google accounts at its launch. But the company says that this feature will come in time.
The Home also allows you to ask questions. With the help of Google Assistance enabled it will give you correct response to your queries. Google has chosen not to be open to developers right now. But it is expected it will be in future once the product becomes successful in the market.
Google Home is in direct competition with Echo which was launched in 2014. Not just products but their virtual assistance (Alexa and Google Assistance) enabled in these devices will also compete. Did you like this article, then share it with your friends.
